About
Orit Leibovitz-novitch
I am a multidisciplinary visual artist and puppeteer, and a graduate of Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem.
My practice brings together visual art, performance, and material experimentation through puppet- and object-based work. I move between stage, public space, and studio contexts, developing original works that combine body, movement, objects, and visual dramaturgy.
Alongside my stage-based work, I maintain an ongoing studio practice that includes drawing, painting, and two- and three-dimensional works created through layered materials and mixed techniques. I work with a wide range of materials — including sponge, latex, papier-mâché, felt, silicone, paper, fabric, and recycled elements — exploring scale, fragility, transformation, and the shifting boundaries between the animate and the inanimate.
I design and construct my own puppets and visual environments, allowing the material process itself to shape the work.
